-The Lakers have turned down trade offers for Dwight Howard but are now worried he may leave after the season as a free agent, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein. There is a lot of frustration with the team, and now LA is at least considering dealing Howard and/or Pau Gasol. Dallas and Atlanta would get “serious consideration” from Howard this summer if he’s on the free agent market. Brooklyn also still intrigues Howard, Stein said.
-There was a rumor yesterday of a three-way trade that would send Howard to the Nets, Brook Lopez to Minnesota and Kevin Love to LA, which ESPN New York and Peter Vescey both shot down. Vescey says Brooklyn no longer has interest in Howard. The Daily News reports that Brooklyn has not engaged in Howard trade talks and that the Nets think Howard will re-sign with Los Angeles.
-There have been no new rumors of late, but Darren Wolfson says Minnesota still has interest in Gasol.
-There is strong interest around the league in Orlando G J.J. Redick, USA Today reports.
-If the NBA looks at local owners to help keep the Kings in Sacramento, rather than a sale and move to Seattle, there are two wealthy local individuals who have the funds to buy the team, USA Today reports.
-Chris Vernon on Memphis’ possible signings: Josh Childress is now the new name he’s throwing out there and no concedes that the team won’t be signing Delonte West or Bill Walker.
-The Nets won’t be signing Damion James to a new 10-day contract.
