-Ken Rosenthal notes: The Royals are looking for an ace like James Shields or Jeremy Hellickson. *A team like the Braves could trade young pitching for Minnesota’s Denard Span if they don’t land a free agent CF. *Arizona probably won’t be trading Justin Upton, but Jason Kubel could be dealt this offseason for a SS or SP. *Toronto may not trade a catcher and the Yankees are focusing on pitching right now, stalling the catching market. *Arizona, Oakland and others are interested in Hiroyuki Nakajima. *Philadelphia has interest in reliever Koji Uehara, and Kansas City could trade Greg Holland or Aaron Crow if someone takes Jeff Francoeur as well. *The Braves and other clubs are interested in Reed Johnson.
-Miami won’t trade Giancarlo Stanton, but execs tell Jeff Passan that he could fetch six players and three big league ready guys on the trade market.
-Could Toronto, a team that’s clearly going for it, be interested in a top starter like R.A. Dickey? Kansas City and other contending clubs could have interest in Dickey as well. Toronto has two big time catchers in J.P. Arencibia and Travis D’Arnaud, two CF’s in Rajai Davis and Anthony Gose and high end pitching prospects.
-The Angels won’t have interest in recently released IF Chone Figgins, who started his career in Anaheim.
-Boston has interest in Lance Berkman (who could return to the Astros), Mike Napoli and Adam LaRoche and have called about Kyle Lohse. Danny Valencia and Zach Stewart are two of the five players Boston DFA’d.
