MLB Hot Stove Rumors 11/9/12

10:30 a.m. Eastern- Morning Update
-Texas won’t offer more than a three-year contract to free agent Josh Hamilton, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports. The Rangers will visit with the All-Star outfielder next week. Texas also has interest in Arizona OF Justin Upton, who is reportedly available via trade, but will not be offering top shortstops Elvis Andrus or Jurickson Profar. Instead, any trade offer would be headlined by 3B Mike Olt.
-Lefty starter Anibal Sanchez is seeking a five-year contract worth $90 million, Jon Morosi reports. That could limit where he could go, though teams with reported interest include Boston, Toronto, Texas and the Dodgers in addition to the incumbent Tigers.
-With Michael Bourn likely leaving Atlanta, the Braves’ top free agent priority is OF Angel Pagan. Minnesota’s Denard Span is likely available in a trade for starting pitching, with B.J. Upton and Shane Victorino as other free agent options.
-Ken Rosenthal: If Washington doesn’t re-sign Adam LaRoche and trades Michael Morse, they could go after Josh Hamilton. Seattle and Baltimore also could. *Philadelphia has interest in outfielder B.J. Upton and Cody Ross. *Cleveland could trade a whole slew of veterans this offseason. *Tampa Bay may still trade one of its starting pitchers for hitting. *The A’s, Diamondbacks and Giants are interested in free agent IF Hiroyuki Nakajima, who refused to go to the Yankees last year to be a reserve when they won the bidding process for him. *Milwaukee could be the favorites to sign Ryan Dempster with the Dodgers targeting other pitchers, and the Brewers are working on a contract extension with Corey Hart.
-The Rangers and Mariners are among five teams interested in Nick Swisher, Mark Feinsand reports. *Texas also has interest in reliever Joakim Soria, who could be ready to pitch in May or June. *Seattle also has interest in Russell Martin and Mike Napoli.
-Boston could have interest in Russell Martin and Hiroki Kuroda, says Jon Heyman. *Heyman also says that the Dodgers’ top two pitching priorities are Kuroda and Sanchez. They’ll also have interest in Zack Greinke and Kyle Lohse.
-The Mets won’t be trading 1B Ike Davis this offseason as they try to retain some power, Joel Sherman says.
-Cincinnati could trade one of its shortstops, Zack Cozart or Didi Gregorius, this offseason. The A’s, Diamondbacks, Twins or Rays could be interested with the Reds looking for a leadoff hitter. Cincy is also looking for a closer.
-St. Louis has interest in Indians SS Adrubal Cabrera in a trade.
-The Cubs will try to re-sign Jeff Samardzija to an extension, re-sign Shawn Camp and bid on free agent Korean starter Hyun-jin Ryu.
-Minnesota may not get more than a fourth starter for Josh Willingham, and Span is a much more desirable trade target right now. *Baltimore has asked the Twins about Willingham and the Royals about Billy Butler.
-Toronto claimed C Bobby Wilson off waivers in the offseason and could be interested in trading J.P. Arencibia. Texas could be a fit. The Jays also signed pitcher Justin Germano.
-It appears Jason Giambi will play rather than accept Colorado’s hitting coach offer, and several teams are interested in Giambi the hitter.
-Philadelphia avoided arbitration with IF Kevin Frandsen.
