NFL Week 5 Picks Against The Spread
NY Giants -9 over Cleveland- New York has the tendency to struggle at home (see the Dallas and Tampa Bay games), so they have to stomp the Browns out early. Otherwise it could be close. Expect the Giants’ defense to come through this week.
Atlanta -3 over Washington- The Redskins pass defense won’t be able to keep up with the fast paced Falcons, but RGIII has shown he can fare well in hostile environments. If the Skins and Alfred Morris control time of possession, watch out.
Philadelphia +3.5 over Pittsburgh- After succeeding against the Giants defense, look for the confident Eagles to carry their success over to this Keystone State showdown.
Green Bay -7 over Indianapolis- Against a defense as fast and athletic as Green Bay’s, look for Andrew Luck to struggle. This could get ugly, especially in Chuck Pagano’s first week away from the team.
Tennessee +5.5 over Minnesota- The Vikings have been playing excellent football, but I’m not buying that they’re this good or that the Titans are this bad. Chris Johnson finally played well last week, and Matt Hasselbeck could be the best QB for this team right now.
Cincinnati -3 over Miami- Look for a banner day from Andy Dalton and AJ Green as the Bengals try to air it out. Expect a setback this week from Ryan Tannehill.
Baltimore -6 over Kansas City- The Chiefs play well at home, but Jamaal Charles should be neutralized and the Ravens are too strong on offense right now for KC to contend with.
Seattle +3 over Carolina- Seattle can stop the pass, but should be able to limit the run game of the Panthers and the turnovers for a big time road win for Pete Carroll.
Chicago -5.5 over Jacksonville- Carrying the momentum from the Dallas game along with Matt Forte’s return to the lineup should give the Bears enough to beat the Jaguars. Just cover Cecil Shorts!
New England -6.5 over Denver- Peyton Manning’s arm strength will be tested today, because this should be a nice high scoring affair. The Broncos pass rush has to apply pressure, or Tom Brady and the Pats could easily put up 30+ points.
San Francisco -9.5 over Buffalo- The Niners will love mistake prone Ryan Fitzpatrick and should use its impressive ground game and different packages to overwhelm the Bills.
San Diego +3.5 over New Orleans- I’m still not convinced the Saints have it all together on offense, and their defense will have trouble with the talented Chargers passing game. Look for a good game from Robert Meachem, who returns to New Orleans as a Bolt.
