Notre Dame Joining The ACC
In the biggest move of all the conference shifts, the University of Notre Dame is becoming the 15th member of the ACC according to the conference’s official Twitter account.
Notre Dame will still be an independent in football, according to the conference’s news release, but have agreed to “play five games annually against league programs.” The ACC also raised the conference’s exit fee to over $50 million.
Notre Dame would join Syracuse and Pittsburgh as the conference’s newest members, bringing a worldwide following to the conference. There has been over a decade of speculation that Notre Dame would join the Big 10 or the Big 12, but it now appears that the Irish are finally joining an ACC that’s emerging as a legitimate superconference. A press conference is expected later today.
