Notable NFL Players Cut As Rosters Lowered To 75
Each NFL team had until 4 p.m. eastern to cut its rosters from 90 to 75 and there were notable names who were released, placed on IR or the Physically Unable to Perform list (which forces the player to miss the first six weeks of the regular season). Let’s check out the list with the help from ProFootballTalk:
Arizona Cardinals- LT Levin Brown was officially placed on IR and the team released WR Jaymar Johnson and DE Landon Cohen.
Atlanta Falcons- Atlanta also placed a starting tackle on IR in Will Svitek and released TE Chase Coffman and QB John Parker Wilson.
Baltimore Ravens- Terrell Suggs will miss the first six weeks of the season after being placed on the PUP list. Baltimore notably waived K Billy Cundiff and put DT Ryan McBean, LB Darryl Blackstock and S Emmanuel Cook on IR.
Buffalo Bills- Wide receivers David Clowney and Derek Session failed to make the final 75, but the big cut was QB Vince Young.
Carolina Panthers- The team will go young on special teams after releasing P Nick Harris and K Olindo Mare. They also placed WR David Gettis on the PUP list.
Chicago Bears- Johnny Knox being placed on the PUP list is the big news, but John McCargo was the biggest name who was released.
Cincinnati Bengals- Veteran G Travelle Wharton was released along with CB’s Shaun Prater and Brandon Ghee.
Dallas Cowboys- Backup guard Kevin Kowalski was placed on the PUP list, sidelining him for six weeks.
Denver Broncos- RB Xavier Omon was released along with TE Anthony Miller, and Jason Hunter was placed on IR.
Detroit Lions- WR Jarrett Dillard and S Sean Jones were released.
Green Bay Packers- Veteran DE Anthony Hargrove was released and should get an opportunity elsewhere.
Houston Texans- LB Omar Gaither was released along with WR Bryant Johnson and G Kasey Studdard.
Jacksonville Jaguars- G Jason Spitz was placed on IR and LB Clint Session was placed on the PUP list. Jacksonville released CB Ashton Youboty.
Miami Dolphins- S Tyrell Johnson was their most notable released player since Chad Johnson was cut.
New Orleans Saints- Veteran DT Remi Ayodele and QB Josh McCown were released.
New York Giants- TE Travis Beckum and DT Chris Canty were placed on the PUP list. Defensive backs Antwaun Molden and Chris Horton were released.
New York Jets- Injured TE Josh Baker was released along with veteran kicker Josh Brown, giving the kicking job to Nick Folk.
Pittsburgh Steelers- Former college star Myron Rolle was released along with TE Justin Peele.
Philadelphia Eagles- Jason Peters and Mike Patterson were placed on the injured list.
San Diego Chargers- WR Roscoe Parrish was the biggest name released for the Bolts.
Seattle Seahawks- Three big names were released in WR Terrell Owens, G Deuce Lutui and T Alex Barron.
St. Louis Rams- Released injured WR Danario Alexander.
Tennessee Titans- Returner Marc Mariani was placed on IR after his leg injury.
Washington Redskins- K Neil Rackers was released, unable to beat out Graham Gano.
