Dwight Howard Headed To Lakers In Four-Team Deal
It looks like Dwight Howard will follow in Shaquille O’Neal’s footsteps and head from Orlando to Los Angeles.
A source tells ESPN’s Marc Stein that a trade call has been scheduled for Friday morning to announce a four-team trade between the Magic, Lakers, Sixers and Nuggets that will send Howard to the Lakers. The following trade has reportedly been agreed to in principle:
In this complicated, multi-faceted deal, the Lakers will almost certainly get Howard from Orlando. Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic and three first-round picks would go to Orlando along with 2012 first rounder Moe Harkless would go to the Magic. Denver would get Andre Iguodala from Philadelphia and the Sixers would receive Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson from Los Angeles.
Gasol may or may not end up dealt, but we do know that we could be in for a ton of changes in the NBA come Friday morning with other names likely to emerge, Stein says. Stein notes that Howard will not be signing a contract extension with the Lakers and still plans on going into free agency next July.
