2012 NFL Preseason- Dallas Cowboys’ 5 Key Stats

5- Total rushing touchdowns by the Cowboys last season, tied for 30th in the league ahead of only Cleveland. DeMarco Murray will try to improve that in his first full year as the starter.

36.7- Dallas’ net punting average last season was atrocious, 28th in the league. Not running the ball consistently and losing the special teams battles proved costly last season.

42- Dallas’ sacks last season ranked them seventh in the league, with 19.5 of those coming from DeMarcus Ware. Their ability to pressure the quarterback is one of their greatest strengths.

102.5- Tony Romo’s passer rating last season, good for fourth in the league behind Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees. He’s very good when healthy.

31:25- Regular season time of possession, good for seventh in the league. In non-pressure situations, the Cowboys are best suited to have the ball in Romo’s hands.

The Cowboys also were not productive in punt return yards. Ranked about 28th in NFL.
