-Contract extension talks between Cole Hamels and the Phillies have intensified, Jayson Stark reports. He probably wants at least $130-140 million, so teams like the Rangers and Dodgers have inquired regarding a trade. *The Angels also have interest in Hamels along with Francisco Liriano, Jon Paul Morosi reports. Peter Bourjos is a major trade chip for the Halos.
-Tim Brown: Washington is looking for a veteran pitcher like Liriano or Kevin Millwood because of Stephen Straburg’s innings limit. *Texas is interested in Ryan Dempster and Zack Greinke in addition to Hamels. *Miami could make significant moves this month. *Torii Hunter would like to play for the Rangers, Dodgers or Yankees if the Angels don’t resign him.
-The Dodgers have a wish list of All-Stars it wants to get this month, Jon Heyman reports. Among the players: Dempster, Matt Garza, Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino, Josh Willingham, Michael Cuddyer, Corey Hart, Aramis Ramirez and Chase Headley. There’s no indication Willingham and Cuddyer are available and the Orioles, Indians and Diamondbacks are chasing Headley.
-The Pirates, Red Sox and Dodgers are interested in Stephen Drew.
-Detroit has interest in Omar Infante.
-Possible interests for the Mets include Francisco Rodriguez and Rick Ankiel.

-Buster Olney via MLB Trade Rumors: Kansas City wants starters who they could keep for at least the next two years. *Boston wants a long term piece and Jon Lester could be in play with a trade, though it’s unlikely. *The Dodgers are the favorites to acquire Ryan Dempster, who may not want to go to the AL. *Could Nate Schierholtz be a good fit for the Yankees?
-Washington is designating Rick Ankiel for assignment to make room for Drew Storen, Ken Rosenthal reports. Expect teams to have interest in the powerful lefty with a killer arm.

-Milwaukee and Zack Greinke are not talking much about a contract extension, Jon Paul Morosi reports. He’s a free agent after the season.
-Miami is talking to teams about a lot of players, but Giancarlo Stanton, Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle are not among them says Joe Frisaro. The team also won’t trade Justin Ruggiano.
-The Yankees, Tigers and Royals saw Wandy Rodriguez struggle against San Diego, says Scott Miller.
-Giants OF Nate Schierholtz is open to a trade, says Henry Schulman.
