MLB Trade Rumors 7/16/12

3:25 p.m. Eastern
-The White Sox are now among the teams interested in Zack Greinke, Jon Heyman reports.
-Tampa Bay may be willing to trade James Shields, and the Tigers would be interested.
-The Angels, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Blue Jays, Braves and Red Sox are interested in Francisco Liriano, Jon Heyman reports.
-The Angels may be offering Peter Bourjos for relief help, Danny Knobler reports.
2:05 p.m. Eastern
-Justin Upton’s no-trade list includes the Yankees, Red Sox, Indians and Cubs, Ken Rosenthal reports. Arizona wants at least a long term SS or 3B in return. *Other Snakes that could be available include Stephen Drew and Chris Young, Bob Nightengale reports.
-Since the Yankees probably won’t be getting Upton, Jon Heyman reports that they’ve talked with the Phillies about Shane Victorino. They’re looking at Cole Hamels, Matt Garza and Francisco Liriano but the outfield is a larger priority right now.
10:45 a.m. Eastern
-Ken Rosenthal: The Rangers and Angels are battling over Cole Hamels and Zack Greinke. *Ryan Dempster has a no-trade clause and will likely guide which team the Cubs deal him to. *The Mets have interest in Colorado C Ramon Hernandez, but the Rockies will dictate the price. *Milwaukee may not sell if they do well this week. *The Cubs are looking for a Gio Gonzalez-like package for Matt Garza. *Detroit has interest in Marco Scutaro.
10:25 a.m. Eastern
-The Yankees will go after Cole Hamels but not Zack Greinke, the New York Post reports. The Dodgers are the favorites if Philadelphia decides to unload him, but New York could offer intruguing low-level prospects. New York also liked Ryan Dempster and Matt Garza.
9:35 a.m. Eastern
-An update on top targets from Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports: The Angels, Rangers and Dodgers are the teams most interested in Cole Hamels. *Ryan Dempster could be moved within the next week, with the Dodgers and Tigers as the most serious suitors. Those two teams are also interested in Matt Garza, with Toronto, Texas and Anaheim also intrigued. Those same teams would likely be in on Zack Greinke as well, but he could be extended by Milwaukee this month as well. *Pittsburgh has emerged as the leading candidate to acquire Arizona’s Justin Upton, if the Diamondbacks get the right offer. *Shane Victorino could be the first big name to be moved, with the Dodgers, Rangers, Tigers, Pirates, Marlins and Giants among the most interested clubs. *Pittsburgh and Baltimore are the most interested teams in OF Carlos Quentin. *The Blue Jays and Angels are among the teams most interested in Francisco Liriano.
9:10 a.m. Eastern

-Josh Willingham is the Twins’ best trade chip, but likely won’t be traded. The same can’t be said for Francisco Liriano. Among the teams who have scouted him: the Yankees, Blue Jays, Braves, Mets, Reds, Padres and Nationals. Also Cincinnati could have interest in Denard Span. Matt Capps and Carl Pavano are two others who could be dealt.
-Seattle will most likely trade Jason Vargas and Brandon League by the deadlie, Jason Churchill reports. There’s also interest in reliever Tom Wilhelmsen, with the Red Sox, Dodgers, Cardinals, Mets and Blue Jays among the teams that may be looking at him.
