NBA Trade Rumors 3/8/12
Orlando’s D-Day Is One Week Away
If Orlando doesn’t get a definite decision from Dwight Howard over the next week on whether he’ll stay with the Magic, rival executives believe that the team will trade Howard, according to Ken Berger. If Orlando stays with Howard and he doesn’t opt in or resign, they’ll compete with the Nets and Mavericks this summer. Howard would have a lot of marketing and endorsement opportunities if he pairs with Deron Williams in Brooklyn next season, and the next week could easily define Orlando’s long-term future.
Big Three Staying Put?
Celtics coach Doc Rivers thinks that the Big Three of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett will stay put this season, according to the Boston Globe. While the Clippers have shown interest in Allen, Los Angeles has reportedly only been willing to give up a package led by backup guard Mo Williams, who has an $8.5 million player option for next season. Jermaine O’Neal is still deciding whether to get season-ending surgery on his wrist.
Extra Points
-Trade rumors are starting to affect the Blazers, according to the Oregonian. Jamal Crawford has been linked to Minnesota in a potential deal for Luke Ridnour and Raymond Felton has also been in rumors.
-Bulls coach Tom Thibadeau doesn’t think his team needs a trade by next week’s deadline.
