MLB Trade Rumors 7/19/11

-With Brandon Crawford struggling at SS, the Giants acquired Jeff Keppinger from the Astros for two minor league relievers. Jose Altuve was brought up to replace Keppinger.
4:30 p. m. Eastern
-The Yankees have been scouting the Padres and Royals releivers recently, says Danny Knobler. The most available Kansas City players Jeff Francis, Kyle Davies, Bruce Chen, Wilson Betemit and Jeff Francouer.
-Oakland DFA’d Jerry Blevins.
4:15 p. m. Eastern
-Atlanta is interested in Carlos Beltran, as are the Phillies, Giants and Tigers, says Mark Bowman. The Mets would be willing to eat the remaining $6 million on Beltran’s contract. There was also a Tigers scout watching Derek Lowe on Monday night. Jon Heyman says the Phillies, Braves and Giants are the most likely team to acquire Beltran, and we’ll see if the Mets ask for Dominic Brown.
-Danny Knobler: The Reds are not only interested in Ubaldo Jimenez and Wandy Rodriguez, but also in Coco Crisp and Chone Figgins. Cincy could package Yonder Alonso with pitching help to Colorado and the Reds are very interested in Jimenez. Boston is also interested in Jimenez and Carlos Beltran but the Rangers are the best bet for Jimenez. Detroit does not have the pieces.
-Some basebal people think Rockies GM Dan O’Dowd is just guaging Ubaldo Jimenez’s market value with no intention of trading him, according to Jerry Crasnick.
-For Kansas City to trade Joakim Soria, GM Dayton Moore said he’d need a starting pitcher now and one for 2013. Ken Rosenthal’s example: Ivan Nova and either Dellin Betances or Manny Banuelos from the Yankees.
-Cleveland is interested in Ryan Ludwick, Josh Willingham, Melky Cabrera and Jeff Francouer, according to Jim Bowden.
-Pittsburgh is looking for a hitter, starter and reliever and have the prospects to do it, according to Jim Bowden.
-Oakland’s Conor Jackson should be moved by the deadline, according to Buster Olney.
-Zach Phillips has been traded from Texas to Baltimore for Nick Green and cash.

-Indians Manager Manny Acta told Jim Bowden that Cleveland is looking for a righty OF who could hit in the middle of the team’s batting order.

-Hiroki Kuroda is soon expected to tell the Dodgers where he would accept a trade to, if anywhere, says Buster Olney.

-Cincinnati is focused on a starting pitcher or a reliever, sources tell JP Morosi. Ubaldo Jimenez of Colorado, Jim Johnson and Koji Uehara of Baltimore, Jason Isringhausen of the Mets, Jason Frasor of Toronto and Todd Coffey of Washington are all of interest. Seattle’s Brandon League could be another option.

-Though Florida has not given up on their season yet, they have talked to Philadelphia about Leo Nunez while looking for young pitching in return, says Jerry Crasnick.
-Seattle is getting a lot of calls on Brandon League because he’s under contract next season, unlike Heath Bell, and can close in the AL, as Mike Adams has not proven yet, says JP Morosi. Morosi also says that Jason Marquis has more trade value than Brett Myers right now.
-The Yankees don’t want to give a big prospect for a reliever and are interested in starting pitching, but they still see Ubaldo Jimenez as a long shot, says Jon Heyman.
-The first place Pirates are focusing in on relief pitching, says Buster Olney.

-There’s a lot of interest in San Diego setup man Mike Adams, according to Jon Heyman.

-Cleveland has interest in Ryan Ludwick and Josh Willingham, and they called the Mets about Carlos Beltran only to be told he won’t go to the Indians and waive his no-trade clause, according to Jon Heyman.

-The Yankees and Mets have had conversations about Carlos Beltran but it probably won’t happen unless it’s a salary dump, according to Buster Olney. The Yankees determined that Beltran is not a fit, according to Bob Klapisch. It’s too early to tell if Boston will be able to give a strong enough offer to Beltran.
-The Yankees had scouts watching Ubaldo Jimenez and Wandy Rodriguez, but won’t pay the price teams are asking, according to George King. Colorado still wants premium prospects in return. Colorado has received calls about Ty Wigginton and Ryan Spilborghs, but are not interested in salary dumps. Boston should be interested in both players, while the Yankees, Tigers and Rangers are still kicking the tires on Jimenez.
-The Phillies want a reliever like Heath Bell or Mike Adams of San Diego. Chad Qualls and Ryan Ludwick are also of interest.
-Los Angeles will now inform Hiroki Kuroda when a team inquires about him, says Dylan Hernandez.
-Toronto could move relievers including Shawn Camp, Octavio Dotel, Frank Francisco, Jason Frasor and Jon Rauch. Corey Patterson could also draw interest.
-Arizona released Aaron Heilman, according to Jack Magruder.
