-Rival GM’s tell Buster Olney that the clause in Carlos Beltran’s contract forbidding teams to offer arbitration, therefore denying teams draft pick compensation, should lower his trade value.

-Braves scouts will be seeing Rockies relievers Huston Street, Matt Belisle and Rafael Betancourt; all trade candidates.

-Detroit is interested in Padres starter Aaron Harang and not in third basemen Mark Reynolds or Wilson Betemit.
-The Yankees won’t be trading its top four prospect, according to Jack Curry. GM Brian Cashman seems satisfied with his pitching.

-Lots of little tidbits from Jon Heyman: The Pirates and Rangers are interested in Padres relievers Heath Bell, Mike Adams and Chad Qualls. Another San Diego pitcher drawing interest is Aaron Harang, who has drawn interest from Cleveland and Detroit, who are also both in on Hiroki Kuroda as well as outfielders. San Francisco’s top two OF choices are Carlos Beltran and Michael Cuddyer, but the Twins are not going to be selling. Kansas City would let Jeff Suppan go to a team in need of pitching help.
-The Angels are interested in Aramis Ramirez, but the Cubs 3B will probably not waive his no-trade clause (10 and 5), according to Ken Rosenthal.

-Jon Heyman: Colorado is asking for the moon for Ubaldo Jimenez and rightly so. The Rockies reportedly asked the Yankees for Jesus Montero, Dellin Betances, Manny Banuelos and Ivan Nova and are looking for a “Herschel Walker” type deal. The Yankees are unwilling to surrender any of those three pitching prospects and New York reportedly thinks Jimenez is not Felix Hernandez so they won’t trade those pitchers. It’s still very likely Colorado keeps Jimenez. If they remain more than four games out of the race they could trade Huston Street, Rafael Betancourt and Ty Wigginton, who the Yankees are interested in. However, New York is not interested in Houston’s Wandy Rodriguez. The Mets will likely trade Carlos Beltran before the deadline, but has a full no-trade clause. He would likely approve a trade to the Giants, Tigers, Rangers, Red Sox, Phillies and Yankees, according to Heyman. The Mets would be willing to eat the $7 million remaining on his deal for a good prospect. San Francisco may not want to part with a good hitting prospect due to the improvement of other players. A lower payroll could have Houston trading Rodriguez and Brett Myers and they’ll probably keep Hunter Pence. The Indians, Pirates and Giants are interested in Josh Willingham of Oakland. Seattle could trade Erik Bedard and Brandon League. The Indians, Tigers, Red Sox, Rangers and Yankees have inquired about Los Angeles’ Hiroki Kuroda. He has a no-trade clause. The Cubs won’t be trading Matt Garza, and the Phillies and Reds are talking with the Padres about a reliever and a righty hitter like Ryan Ludwick, who also interests the Giants, Braves, Pirates and Indians. Heath Bell, Mike Adams and Chad Qualls have drawn interest from the Phillies, Reds, Rangers, Cardnals, Yankees, Angels and White Sox. Texas won’t be trading OF/SS prospect Jurickson Profar. Tampa Bay seems willing to talk about BJ Upton, but not so with St. Louis and Colby Rasmus.
-Teams are calling Washington about relievers Drew Storen, Tyler Clippard and Todd Coffey, according to Ken Rosenthal. They’re also taking calls about SS Ian Desmond and looking for a CF in return like BJ Upton, Colby Rasmus, Michael Bourn and Denard Span. The Nats won’t be trading 2B Danny Espinosa, and could trade Desmond while moving Espinosa to SS and bringing up Steve Lombardozzi to play second. The Twins, Giants and Brewers could use Desmond.
-Doug Fister and Jason Vargas are Mariners starters who could be on the block, says Danny Knobler.

-Cleveland could now have a greater sense of urgency in looking for an OF now that Grady Sizemore is again injured. The Indians and Pirates are looking for OF help while Arizona is going after pitching, says Jon Heyman.
-Atlanta would have to take on at least 75 percent of Derek Lowe’s salary in a trade to a team like Detroit, and finances are not in the Braves’ favor to deal for Carlos Beltran or Hunter Pence, says Jerry Crasnick.
-Washington will move either Livan Hernandez, Jason Marquis or Tom Gorzelanny, says Jerry Crasnick.
-Detroit has interest in Jeremy Guthrie but he’s still behind Ubaldo Jimenez and Hiroki Kuroda on the team’s wish list, according to JP Morosi. Baltimore would want pitching in return and scouts were in Toledo to see starter Cory Furbush, who entered the game as a reliever at the request of the Tigers front office. Could be something brewing.
-Kansas City is expected to keep Melky Cabrera and Jeff Francouer and trade Wilson Betemit and Jeff Francis, according to Jon Heyman.
11:15 a. m. Eastern
-Colorado won’t take Yankees prospect Jesus Montero as the best piece an Ubaldo Jimenez trade, a person with ties to the Rockies told Jon Heyman.
10:40 a. m. Eastern
-The Yankees and Rockies have not yet exchanged names on an Ubaldo Jimenez trade and the chances of a deal are very slim, according to Buster Olney.
10:10 a. m. Eastern
-The Yankees are on Ubaldo Jimenez of the Rockies but they have no urgency to trade and New York GM Brian Cashman said they “absolutely” have enough pitching, says Bob Klapisch. Klapisch wonders if Cashman will be overruled.
8:55 a. m. Eastern
-Pittsburgh is looking at an impact bat, either a corner infielder or RF. Josh Willingham, Aramis Ramirez and Hunter Pence are among the possibilities.
8:35 a. m. Eastern
-While the interest in Ubaldo Jimenez gained the most attention, more likely Rockies trade candidates include Ryan Spilborghs and Rafael Betancourt, according to Tracy Ringolsby. There has even been inquries about Huston Street. Colorado would want impact players for Jimenez, less so for Spilborghs and Betancourt. Teams with scouts watching the weekend Rockies-Brewers series included the Cubs, Reds, Pirates, Diamondbacks, Braves, Phillies, Rangers, Tigers, Orioles, and Yankees.
-A lot of teams are interested in Dodgers pitcher Hiroki Kuroda, according to Tim Brown.
-If Arizona targets Brandon League, they could deal 3B Matt Davidson to Seattle according to Jason Churchill.
