Jayhawks Headline Preseason All-Americans
The 2009/2010 College Basketball season will begin one week from tonight, and two Kansas players were on the staring five of the Preseason AP All-Americans.
Senior PG Sherron Collins, one of the best points in the nation with the Jayhawks was named along with 6’11 junior beast Cole Aldrich, by far the best big man in the nation going into the season. The rest of the five on the team have a whole lot of experience with Notre Dame Center Luke Harangody looking to get his Fightin’ Irish back into the tournament with an experienced club in a weakened Big East. Duke’s Kyle Singler will lead a team filled with a younger team of a host of McDonalds All-AmericansĀ and Coach K’s recruiting is giving the Blue Devils a lot of hope and optimism in Durham. It’s hard to believe that Kentucky Junior Patrick Patterson has never made the NCAA tournament but with the nation’s top recruiting class featuring all-world PG John Wall andĀ a new head coach in John Calipari, the Wildcats have national title aspirations in Lexington.
Early Season All-Americans Schedules
Kansas- The month of November is fairly easy for the Jayhawks. They host Hofstra to open the year on the 13th before a trip to the FedEx Forum to face Josh Pastner’s inexperienced Memphis Tigers on the 17th with only eight scholarship players. Their first big test comes on Dec. 6 at UCLA.
Notre Dame- North Florida, St Francis (PA), Long Beach State, Liberty and Kennesaw State are the teams on the November schedule before they host Northwestern on the 27th. The Wildcats have a pretty good shot at making the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
Duke- It’s a very light November schedule for the Blue Devils, with just three games against UNC Greensboro, Coastal Carolina and Radford. A game on Dec. 2 at Wisconsin will be a good test.
Kentucky- Tournament teams from last season Morehead State and Cleveland State are on the November schedule, but a game against UNC on Dec. 5 will be the highlight of the early season.
